Theatre nerd, comic book geek, choir boy, theme park guru, pop culturist and cat lover, Chris Thompson has been working in the Entertainment industry for 25 years, currently working as an independent director, producer, choreographer, performance coach and graphic artist. His fan art and original illustrations can be seen at various pop culture conventions, on the walls of many Disnerds, Potterheads, Superhero Fanboys and Fangirls across the globe, on several companies’ letterhead, on the front cover of a few novels, and on a few people’s skin!
He is also the Entertainment Director at Calaway Park, having written and produced over 60 stage shows and developed the park’s entertainment programming. He has worked as a member of the International Theme Park Association Entertainment Committee, working closely with other entertainment professionals from venues such as Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Cedar Point, and the Walt Disney properties as a resource and consultant for Entertainment professionals across the globe in the theme park industry. Chris is proud to have had 3 nominations for his stage shows in the International “Big E Awards” for theme park entertainment, and has an International Certified Attractions Manager designation (ICAM).
Also on the artistic staff of the Youth Singers of Calgary as the organization’s Asst Producer, Marketing Team Lead and Senior Guest Choreographer, Chris coaches triple threat skills for the High School and University-aged performing groups and has produced internationally acclaimed performances that have toured world-wide. Chris also works as a contracted performance coach at several high schools and dance studios in Calgary focusing on musical theatre skills, and has taught staging and choreography for the University of Texas in Austin and Mirocosta College in San Diego. He continues to find joy in creating magic and entertainment for young audiences, in recent years also working with Storybook Theatre as Assistant Director for Disney’s Beauty & The Beast, Mary Poppins, Joseph, Crossing Swords (co-presented with Forte Musical Theatre Guild) and Matilda, and performing in the “Top Secret Musicals” in the concert versions of The Secret Garden, Titanic the Musical, In The Heights and Company, supporting raising funds for the Ellie Tims Project.
Chris is also a professional singer, with many voiceover and recording credits to his name, and having performed live in numerous concerts with such artists as Reba McIntyre, Roch Voisine, Paul Brandt, Kenny Rogers, Video Games Live, Star Wars Live, Total Vocal: Carnegie Hall, Josh Groban and Sarah Brightman, as well as daily performances in the shower that are met with rave reviews from his neighbors!
